VESIA : VEHICLE ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS INSPECTORS ASSOCIATION
Repair Certifiers Association executives, Land Transport New Zealand and a number of Auto Electrical experts have had meetings to discuss the direction of electronic systems checking as it specifically relates to entry vehicles You will all be aware of the “dirty tricks” that are around. To check the vehicle systems properly takes some skill. The public has to be confident steps are being taken to improve the system. Vesia members will fit this criteria. Repair Certifiers have to be convinced that the people doing their SRS/ABS declarations are bona fide and have the equipment and the expertise to carry out the work. The birth of Vesia will ensure this happens. It is up to each Repair Certifier to only use people who know what they are doing. The Vehicle Electronic Systems Inspectors Association has been formed, and companies wishing to do your SRS/ABS work will have to provide enough information to convince the Vesia executive they are capable of carrying out the work. Forms are available for you to print and distribute in your area. Following approval from Vesia executive, (and payment) you will then be able to use them. Lists of scanners they have and the credentials of their employees will form part of this. The new Association will have it’s own Rules and Regulations, & in future will work with LTNZ. Their members will have to keep scanners and other equipment up to speed, and they will have to upgrade and attend courses to maintain their skill level. All this will be organised by their Association in the future. This is in line with RCA members needing to upskill continuously and similar to the work that CRA and others are doing to keep their members up to date with changing technology in paint and panel repairs. In fact, all areas of our industry have to do this. The new Association will provide TSDA inspectors and RCA members access to the skill levels of their members, and the vehicles they have the tools to work on. Their members will be able to sign off the declaration and you will know they are capable of doing what they say. This information also available electronically. Go via their website on the Home page of VSF. Application to become a Recognised Repairer
